Located on beautiful Lake Whatcom, this 4,000-square-foot log facility contains a boat house, meeting lounge, locker rooms, and the manager's apartment. Over 60 watercraft, ranging from sailboards, to one-person Lasers, two-person Alphas, rowboats, canoes and kayaks provide hours of enjoyment for the Western Community. In addition, the site has a sand volleyball court, picnic tables and BBQ's, hiking trails, and a Ropes Challenge Course. Beginning, intermediate, advanced and instructor sailing classes are offered through the Physical Education Department, as well as via private lessons. The facility is staffed from 2 pm to dusk, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, as well as 10 am to dusk on weekends, during Fall and Spring Quarters; and from Noon to dusk, Monday through Friday, and 10 am to dusk on weekends during summer. 2035 Lake Whatcom BLVD., 650-2900
The Associated Student's E.D.G.E. program is a way for teams, clubs, and groups of students,
University offices/agencies and faculty affinity groups to work on important topics such as:
goal setting, leadership, effective communication, problem solving, trust, consensus-building,
group roles, confidence and other valuable group and individual skills.
The E.D.G.E. program offers a sequence of activities specifically designed for each group to
increase social and individual awareness and appreciation through safe physical and mental challenges,
discussion and reflection. The E.D.G.E. program has two venue-based offerings:
The Lakewood E.D.G.E. (formerly known as the Challenge Course)

This 800-square-foot old-growth fir lodge is located on Sinclair Island at the gateway to the San Juans. Extensive beach walks, interior island dirt roads ideal for mountain biking, salmon fishing and just being lazy highlight the activities at this popular facility. The rustic atmosphere, with no electricity, is softened by propane lights, stove, and fridge, as well as an air-tight wood stove for heating. This multi-faceted program is the centerpiece of the Associated Students' outdoor
recreation offerings. Located on the first floor of the Viking Union, the OC
provides: instructional trips; books, maps, magazines, and videos; rental
equipment, including kayaks, rafts, backpacking, and cross-country ski packages;
a do-it-yourself (with help from the staff)
bicycle repair and retail facility;
and excursions from the channels and bays of the San Juan Islands to the slopes
of Mt. Baker and beyond. The Center is open Monday through Friday when school

The Viking Union Gallery 507 is a student-curated exhibition space sponsored by Western Washington University's Associated Student Productions. Our primary focus is to contribute to the artistic culture of Bellingham community while promoting the artwork of Western's student and regional artists. We're located in room 507 on the fifth floor of the Viking Union Building on the Northwestern corner of Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington.
KUGS is staffed by students and community volunteers who are committed to providing programming that encourages a greater understanding of the human differences and cultural pluralism within the University community and the world we live in.
