Updated Fee Structure

07/01/2022 the Viking Union will begin implementing room rental rates for departments as well as implementing a Department Special Event rate that will replace the Hosted and Endorsed rates. Additionally, off campus sites such as Lakewood and the Viqueen lodge will incur the Department Special Event rate for non-student groups. This new fee structure will extend to equipment rentals for use outside of the VU.

  • The reservation is made and the activity is planned and conducted by a recognized WWU student group (Student Club or Programming Office)
  • The activity must be a direct benefit to students
Department Rate (use of Viking Union space and Rental Equipment outside the VU, % discount from Off-Campus Rate) 80%

Meets this definition if…

  • The event or meeting is planned by a university group or affiliate and aligns with the group or affiliates core operations and functions
  • The event does not charge fees for admission, registrations, or participation
  • The majority of attendees are student, faculty or staff
Campus Department Special Event Rate (% Discount from Off-Campus Rates for VU space, equipment, and remote property use) 50%

Meets this definition if any one of the following apply:

  • The event has an off-campus sponsor or partnership helping fund the event
  • The event charges a registration, admission fee, or charges for participation
  • The event has more than 50% Off-Campus participation
  • The event does not support the core business function of the department
Off Campus Rate 0%

Meets this criterion if…

  • The reservation is made by a Non-University group or individual
  • The funds to pay for fees are being paid directly from a Non-University Group or Individual
