Western Scream Queens Club Meeting

Description

The Western Scream Queens in a club wherein we watch a horror movie and then discuss queer representation and symbolism while taking a deep dive into queer influence.

Come join us Thursdays at 6pm in Bond Hall 109

This club is intended to create a space where queers who love horror can gather and discuss their interests without judgment. The Western Scream Queens believe in the inherent value and queerness of horror in that it has the ability to tackle the issues other genres cannot and represent the Other like, well, none other. Queerness finds a safe place in that Other and many people like us have found a safe place within horror fandom. The Western Scream Queens meet every Thursday of the academic quarter and watch a queer horror film, that is a horror film with a queer creator and/or queer themes, followed by a discussion of the history and queerness of the film. This is an excellent opportunity to uplift queer horror creators and films that may have slipped through the cracks of cultural consciousness as well as to educate queer folks about our rich history within the genre.
