What is the Viking Union? What is the "VU"? The Viking Union is the hub for student communities, engagement, and activities at Western Washington University.
The Viking Union connects a dynamic and diverse campus community, providing welcoming, supportive spaces and activities that advance engagement in leadership, service, adventure and celebration.

Hello! Western students are known for their passion and commitment to civic engagement and student representation! The Associated Students Office of Civic Engagement has been recognized nationally for their efforts in voter registration and they lead the state in lobbying efforts with over 200 students lobbying at the national, state, and local level. If you are interested in creating a community of civically engaged peers or if you are interested in becoming more engaged, I encourage you to attend the many educational programs, events, watch parties, and lobbying opportunities the Associated Students Office of Civic Engagement is hosting!

Welcome! The Outdoor Recreation experience at Western Washington University has a 40 year history of getting folks outside to explore their natural surroundings, San Juan Islands, Cascade Mountain Range, and the Canadian Wilderness. We also receive consistent national recognition from major outdoor periodicals for our programs and services for students. Our facilities range from a sailing and boating center, outdoor rental and retail center, bike shop, island property, and ropes challenge experiences.
Our excursions are designed for low expense, high learning output, and professional development through work opportunities. We strive to serve all of our community regardless of pre-existing knowledge. financial challenges, or physical ability. Give us a call!

Hey there! The Viking Union is home to hanging out, dining, meeting, and event spaces. Event Services supports Western Departments and Western Student Organizations in our rooms overlooking Bellingham Bay. Working with Student Organizations is the highlight of our work, supporting events that highlight their interests, identities, dreams and values.
